Regular appointments for the treatment of COPD, Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, Cervical smear tests, contraceptive and sexual health advice and treatment are available with our Practice nurse.
Child health surveillance and all childhood immunisations are also carried out by the practice nurse.
Most chronic disease monitoring will be carried out via telephone consultation where possible and also text questionnaire to reduce the volume of patients coming into the surgery following the covid-19 pandemic.
Travel vaccinations and vaccinations against influenza and pneumonia are available for eligible patients. Please arrange telephone consultation initially with the Practice Nurse to discuss then she will arrange a suitable time for you to attend. Please note travel vaccinations are currently on hold due to the safety measures following covid-19.
Self referral physio appointments are available to book via reception by calling 0151 327 4593. This simply means if you have sprains/strains, Back Pain, Trapped Nerves, Joint Arthritis, Neck Pain or Whiplash and you havent already seen a GP in relation to this, you can make a direct appointment to see the physio who is located here in Neston Surgery every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm – 4pm and all day Wednesday. These appointments will also initially be telephone triage.
Doctors can also undertake non-NHS examinations for pre-employment, insurance, taxi medical, HGV, fitness to travel etc. (These are by special appointment only and a fee is payable). Please note this service is not NHS and therefore does not take priority, there can be a waiting time of up to 8 weeks for forms to be completed and similar for medicals to be completed due to the volume of requests increasing tremendously over the last 2 years, the timescale is only a guide and not definitive. We appreciate your patience with this and understanding that GP clinics will take priority. Please note that any abuse towards our staff regarding these will not be tolerated and may result in your form being returned to you not completed and you may also be invited to register at another practice. Please see Non NHS Services tab.
Community staff such as Health Visitors, District Nurses, Midwives, MacMillan Nurses, Dieticians, Physiotherapists and Counsellors are accessible through the Practice.
Referrals: e referral service (previously Choose and Book)
All referrals from the practice to hospital specialties are by the secure NHS computer system called accenda. This system is used by most GP practices in the area and is very successful. The system differs slightly for different specialties and hospital departments. Please be aware there be a substantial waiting list depending on which department you are being referred to. If you have any issues or wish to find out more info regarding your referral and waiting times please call the choice team on 01244 362836 who will be able to deal with your enquiry, please refrain from contacting the surgery where possible as we only have as much information as you do.
